FAQ

How long do you plan per service?

We plan for 45 minutes per service. However, there are some stylist’s on our team that we schedule for 35 minutes per service.  We always add a 15-30min buffer on the very end of our timeline.  This gives us the opportunity to touchup any curls & retouch lipstick.

How many stylists/artists will there be?

This depends on the number of people receiving hair & makeup services. There are always two of us; one hairstylist & one makeup artist. For larger groups, there will additional stylists or assistants.

Who sets the start time?

Savannah Olivia Beauty does.  We look at what time your photographer will be arriving to start photos and plan accordingly.  If you will not be taking any photos before the ceremony, our rule of thumb is to have you ready two hours prior to the ceremony start time. We always add a 15-30min buffer on the very end of our timeline.  This gives us the opportunity to touchup any curls & retouch lipstick.

Ex. If you have 6 people receiving hair & makeup services and need to be ready by 2:00PM, we would plan to start at 9:00AM.

Why is it important to come with clean dry hair?

The saying “dirty hair styles better” is absolutely not true.  Dirty greasy hair weighs down curls & gives you less volume.  We recommend washing & blow-drying it smooth from the roots the night before. A blow dry is NOT included in the hair & makeup price.  If you or your party comes with wet or even semi wet hair, two things will happen. A. we will tell you to go blow dry it, B. we will blow dry it for you but this could cause the timeline to run behind and you, the bride, to lose out on your own hair appointment time.  Most of our stylists do not carry a blow dryer with them unless a blowout is specified beforehand; if our stylists have to bring out the blow dryer, there will be an additional charge.

Do you not take hair only or makeup only weddings?

No.

My venue doesn’t allow me into the venue until 10am and I need to be ready by 1pm for photos, what do I do?

Three hours will never be enough time to get an entire party ready.  Some venues will allow you in early if you simply just ask; others will charge you to come in early.  The other option is to get ready in a hotel, airbnb, etc. and just get dressed at your venue.  If you are set on getting ready at the venue, a stylist’s assistant can be added for an hourly rate, but this must be communicated at the time of booking.

When should I schedule my trial for?

We recommend doing a trial 4-6 weeks from your date.  That way there are no major skin or hair changes and everything is fresh in everyone’s mind.  It also still gives us enough time to make small easy recommendations like getting a trim or purchasing hair extensions.

How should I prepare for my trial?

Please arrive with clean dry hair and a clean makeup free face. Be able to explain what it is you like about each inspo photo.  Look for inspiration photos with similar hair & skin coloring.  A braid on a highlighted hair will look completely different on someone with all over brown hair.

Do you travel to us?

Our prices include up to 25 miles of travel each way from our studio in St Pete.  Outside of that, there is a travel fee per stylist to your location.

I put down 7 hair & makeups on the contract but one of my bridesmaids can’t make it. Can you remove them from the contract?

No. There are no subtractions to the number on the contract. Additions can be made if time & number of stylists allows for it.

Are extensions included in the price?

No. The bride’s hair & makeup price includes placement of clip in extensions.  We do not provide the extensions.  We recommend purchasing through Bellami or Luxy for great 100% real remy hair clip in extensions. It is an additional $25 for anyone in the party wanting to add clip-in extension placement.  We will not do tape ins day of and don’t recommend using Halo extensions.

My bridesmaid has curly hair, what should she do?

If she wants to use her natural curl, tell her she can use mousse, oils, creams, etc.  Please do not use stiff hold gels & hairsprays. Looks for inspo photos with curly hair, not smooth hair that was curled because that will require a blowout first. If she does not want to use her natural curl, then she must blow out her hair the day before.

How should I prepare for day of?

Tell your entire party to arrive in the getting ready room 15-30 minutes before the hair & makeup start time.  This gives them time to get in their robes and ensures they have arrived on time so the timeline doesn’t fall behind.  Have all dresses steamed prior to hair & makeup arriving and have the AC kicked down.
